Silica bricks for hot blast stoves

Silica brick for hot blast furnace is a kind of siliceous refractory product specially used for masonry blast furnace hot blast furnace high temperature part, silica brick for hot blast furnace under the condition of long-term high temperature and load, stable volume, low creep rate at high temperature, can be used continuously for one or even two blast furnace service.

Silica brick for hot blast furnace is a kind of siliconous refractory product specially used for masonry blast furnace hot blast furnace high temperature parts. Here are some of the key properties and applications of silica bricks for hot blast furnaces:

1. High temperature stability: Silica brick for hot blast furnace has stable volume and low creep rate at high temperature under the condition of long-term high temperature and load, and can be used continuously for one or even two blast furnace furnaces.

2. Thermal shock resistance: above 600°C, it has good thermal shock resistance, adapts to the variability of the temperature of the hot blast furnace, and keeps the bricks and masonry intact.

3. Chemical erosion resistance: better than clay bricks and general high-alumina bricks, the erosion of silica bricks by alkaline substances in gas and soot is limited to the formation of a layer of glass phase on the surface, and does not peel off.

4. Thermal conductivity: The thermal conductivity of silica bricks is larger than that of clay bricks and high-alumina bricks, which is conducive to storing and releasing heat in a short time.

5. Working temperature: The refractory degree of silica brick is not particularly high (1690-1730°C), but its load softening temperature is very high (1640-1670°C), this unique combination of properties makes silica brick suitable for hot blast furnace, which can withstand the working temperature and the weight of the processed material.

6. Thermal expansion: The volume of silica brick is stable in the range from above 300 °C to close to the melting point, and about 1.5%~2.2% volume expansion occurs when heated to 1450 °C when used, which is conducive to ensuring the structural strength and air tightness of the masonry.

7. Production process: Quartzite containing more than 98% SiO2 is crushed into particles and fine powder below 2.5mm, stored separately according to the particle size, and appropriate gradation is adopted. Mineralizers and binders are added to mix in the wet mill and then formed on the brick press, and the bricks are dried and fired at a temperature of 1308-1450 °C.

8. Storage and use: It should be stored in a waterproof warehouse, and can still be used after being wet and slowly dried at a temperature below 100 °C. The aqueous silica brick will affect its strength after freezing, and it needs to be re-tested.

9. Standard: The production and application of silica bricks for hot blast furnace follow the YB/T 133-2005 standard.

In summary, silica bricks for hot blast furnaces have become an ideal choice of refractory materials for hot blast furnaces due to their excellent high temperature stability, thermal shock resistance, chemical erosion resistance and high thermal conductivity.
